Media Studies Curriculum 3 I’s
Vision and Intent
At Maltings Academy, studying Media Studies allows students to shape their perceptions of the world by understanding how messages are communicated through media products. The subject brings together communication, culture and technology and will allow students to critically analyse and explore the ways in which the media impacts on society, both as active and passive audiences.
The Maltings Media Studies curriculum will enable learners to:
Develop appreciation and critical understanding of the media and their role both historically and currently in society, culture and politics.
Analyse and compare media products and the contexts in which they are produced and consumed in order to make arguments, reach judgements and draw conclusions about media issues.
