Mathematics

This page is designed to give you an  outline of the pathway your child would follow through the subject during their time here.

Key Stage 3

Students are taught from the National Curriculum and set according to ability. Year 7 and Year 8 also have an EEL option available. First and Second set begin the GCSE course in Year 9. All other sets move onto GCSE work as, and when, they are ready.

Key Stage 4

First and Second set in Year 10 take their GCSE exam in the Summer. All sets begin following the GCSE course. Students having passed their GCSE and achieved their target grade move onto a Free Standing Mathematics Qualification in Additional Maths or Intermediate Level Finance Qualification. All other students are entered for GCSE in November. Students are re-set according to GCSE results and targeted revision sessions run until the June examination.
