Our Aim

In art our aim is to create a department where students are engaged, happy, confident, and are able to succeed in the subject, both academically and in extra-curricular opportunities.

Art is a popular subject within the school where students can learn in a positive and creative atmosphere with strong teaching. We run a broad art curriculum and students get to experience a variety of media including drawing, painting, design, clay, 3D sculpture, textiles, digital photography and black and white photography.

Over the years we have had some outstanding exam results and we are confidently looking into the future to build on this success. Our GCSE results for summer 2013 were fantastic with 87% of students achieving A*-C in GCSE Fine Art and Photography overall (National average – 75.5%). 26% of students achieved A*-A (National Average 21%) and 61% of students achieved A*-B (National Average 48%).

At A level 100% of A2 level students achieved A-D, with an outstanding 80% of these students achieving A*-B grades.
