The Academy Week

The length of the academy week is 26 hours for Key Stage 3, 4 and 5.  The requirement of the DCSF is 25 hours.

Dress Code

KEY STAGES 3 AND 4

To create a sense of identity and belonging to the Maltings community and to alleviate the pressures of keeping up with changes in fashion, all students in Key Stages 3 and 4 must wear full Academy uniform. This must be adhered to throughout the timetabled day as well as whilst travelling to and from the Academy.

All uniform items are available from the academy shop which can be found in Student Services.  The shop is open every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 3.00 - 4.00 p.m. during term time.

Boys:

Black trousers

White shirt

Black socks

Sensible black shoes

Academy tie (available only from the academy)

Academy coat (available only from the academy). This is the only coat to be worn.

Academy blazer (available only from the academy)

Girls:

Black trousers or plain black skirt (no pleats)

White rever collared blouse

Black ankle socks or black or flesh coloured tights

Sensible black shoes

Academy coat (available only from the academy). This is the only coat to be worn.

Academy blazer (available only from the academy)

PE Kit

Boys and Girls:

Shorts - Black

Black shadow stripe PE shorts

Black and red rugby top (available only from the academy)

White T shirt

Trainers

All uniform (apart from the blazer, tie, coat and rugby top) is available from the academy but any of it can be purchased from any outlet provided that it complies with the uniform policy. The academy reserves the right to make the final judgement as to whether the items of clothing comply with the policy.

No jewellery on the grounds of health and safety (except for a watch and one small stud in the lobe of each ear. Piercings in the tragus or the upper cartilage of the ear are not allowed). Nose studs, tongue studs and other facial piercings are not allowed. As with all decision regarding uniform, the Academy has the right to make the final decision regarding whether a particular item of jewellery complies with the policy.

KEY STAGE 5

Key Stage 5 students follow a dress code rather than wear a uniform. Clothes should be smart at all times and suitable for an indoor, academic working environment. There should be no low cut tops or very short skirts or shorts. Boys should wear long trousers and no sleeveless t-shirts or vests.  Extremes of fashion must be avoided. No body piercings are allowed other than small studs in ear lobes. Coats, scarves, hats and gloves must not be worn around the academy. Maltings Academy makes the final decision as to what is or is not acceptable in all respects of a student’s appearance.
