Drama

All students in Year 7,8 and 9 have one drama lesson per fortnight. In these lessons they will cover basic stage skills and conventions covering topics such as bullying and peer pressure through improvisation and script work. From September 2009 Years 7 and 8 will be able to choose stage skills as an option on their EEL timetable, where they can explore the subject in more detail including costume, make-up and technical elements such as lighting and sound.

Skills for Life

Citizenship/PSHEE/Careers

Skills for life incorporates Citizenship, Personal, Social, Health and Economic Well Being education (PSHEE) and Careers.

Students receive one lesson per fortnight of citizenship when they study local, national and global issues for example: local and national government, the European Union, Law and Order, etc.

PSHEE is taught during one half hour tutorial per week, the focus being upon the individual. Topics include healthy eating, drugs, sex education, safety in the home and community.

Careers is taught during citizenship with a specific focus during Year 9. Connexions works in the academy with students 3 days per fortnight, either one to one or in groups, offering advice and guidance in careers and anything else that affects young people.
