Tom Garrard
Assistant Principal (Specialisms)
I have been working at Maltings Academy and its predecessor school for over ten years. As the former Head of Physical Education I have a clear insight into the existing ability and potential of the students and staff at the new academy. My role is to lead the strategic development of the specialisms at Maltings Academy, enhancing the learning experiences of all the students. My specialist sports are rugby, trampolining and basketball.
Tom Webster
Head of Physical Education
As Head of PE my role is to lead the implementation of the academy PE curriculum and to ensure that all students are supported and developed to their potential in achieving within the practical arena. My specialist sports are badminton, basketball and football.
Anna Bennett
Head of Keystage 5
I have been a member of the PE team for over twelve years and mainly deliver key stage 5 examination Physical Education. My role is to plan and lead many of the PE staff in the delivery of A-Level and Btec sport within the VI form at Maltings Academy. There is a long standing tradition of high level results at this level and I hope to maintain this in the future. My specialist sports are badminton and tennis.
Carrie Hicks
Head of Key Stage 4 PE
My role is the planning and support of the Key Stage 4 curriculum. I have to oversee all GCSE and Btec courses that are delivered in years 10 and 11. The results at this level have been consistently high over the last 8 years and this is something we strive to maintain in the years to come. My specialist sports are hockey and aerobics.
Dan Pearce
Head of Key Stage 3 PE
This is my forth year at Maltings Academy and its predecessor school. My role is the planning and support of the Key Stage 3 curriculum. What we plan for in the early stages at Maltings Academy has a direct and important impact on what sort of performers we develop. The curriculum is devised to give all students the opportunity to excel in whatever sport they feel is most appropriate to them. My specialist sports are boxing and fitness training.
Leanne Dey
Teacher of Physical Education
This is my second year teaching. My role within the academy is to deliver high quality lessons and to encourage students to extend their attainment levels in both the formal and informal curriculum. I am taking the lead on the promotion and delivery of the inter-house sports programme, encouraging participation and enjoyment of sport. My specialist sports are netball and rounders.

Teacher of Physical Education and Vice Principal
I have been working at Maltings Academy and its predecessor school for nearly ten years. My specialist sports are football and athletics.
Sam Mitchell
Teacher of Physical Education and House System Co-Ordinator
This is my second year at Maltings and my role is to lead and develop the house system at which was introduced in 2009. This encompasses the promotion and organisation of house competitions which help to foster a greater team spirit feeling amongst the students. My specialist sports are dance and gymnastics.
Alan Bailey
Teacher of Pysical Education and Senior VI Form Tutor
I have been working at Maltings Academy and its predecessor school for well over twenty years now. I have the experience and knowledge to deliver high quality lessons to the students. My role as senior tutor is to lead the pastoral staff in the VI Form in the support of the students in their academic studies and also to ensure that the students make informed choices on what they aim to do post 18. My specialist sports are football and swimming.
