Freedom of Information Publication Scheme on information available under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 aims to promote greater openness by public authorities such as government and other public sector organizations, including academies. The Freedom of Information Act came into effect on 1st January 2005.
The publication scheme covers the Academy’s commitment on the following points:
The publication scheme sets out the broad “classes” of information published by Maltings Academy. There is also a list of the actual documents, grouped under the “class” headings, which will be amended from time to time.
Some information can be found on the Maltings Academy Website. Other information is available from the Academy in printed form.
If you ask for information that is not already published, we will do our best to provide advice and assistance. However, the law requires us only to provide information which already exists and which we already hold. If the information you ask for is held by another organization, we will put you in contact with that organization.
Printed copies of information are usually free but the academy reserves the right to charge for photocopying. If your request involves a large amount of copying or administrative time in preparing documents which contain personal information which has to be removed we may charge. You will be informed of the charge before you decide whether you wish to pursue your request.
Maltings Academy follows the Retention Guidelines for schools (2004) proposed by the Records Management Society of Great Britain and approved by the DfE.
We welcome suggestions of how Maltings Academy can provide more useful or clearer information. Any questions, comments or complaints about this scheme should be sent in writing or by email to the Headteacher at Maltings Academy.
If you are not satisfied with the assistance that you get or if we have not been able to resolve your complaint and you feel that a formal complaint needs to be made then this should be addressed to the Information Commissioners Office. This is the organisation that ensures compliance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and that deals with formal complaints. They can be contacted at:
