Our aim is to promote and improve inclusion through a well-planned curriculum, clearly targeted lesson objectives, regular assessment, with focus on Literacy and Numeracy, the creation of a supportive learning environment, making use of the staff available and appropriate resources to meet the needs of all our students.
Being part of the Inclusion Group allows us to work very closely with the Learning Support and Emotional Literacy departments. Meeting together on a regular basis allows us to define students’ needs and to determine and highlight the particular obstacles which may thwart their individual progress.
We gather information and take advice from the SENCo to further develop and define our support policies.
Through liaison with the Heads of Faculties we adhere closely to schemes of work produced by them and modify the topics to ensure that our students are taught at appropriate levels of understanding and to gain the opportunity to enjoy topics that are being taught to their peers in main stream classes. Through this process it is our intention to improve levels of competence in both Literacy and Numeracy skills.
Our target is to build the confidence of our students; support them in reaching an appropriate level of comprehension, which, in turn, will facilitate the opportunity for them to achieve alongside students of their own age group in main stream classes.
It is of the utmost importance to us that students who have achieved the requirements for reintegration do so with success.
We review these arrangements on a regular basis and in the light of changing circumstances.
