“Maltings Academy recognises that we have students who are gifted academically and have specific talents. We understand that the curriculum we offer should stimulate, challenge and support these students. We know also that some students may develop or display their ability less readily than others for a variety of reasons such as peer pressure, motivation and/or cultural differences. Our aim at Maltings Academy is to create an environment where these students are not only comfortable with their abilities, but are celebrated and nurtured”.
Maltings Academy Gifted and Talented Policy
Gifted and talented children are those who have one or more abilities developed to a level significantly ahead of their year group (or with the potential to develop these abilities).
“Gifted” refers to those pupils who are or are capable of excelling in academic subjects such as English, Maths or Science.
“Talented” pupils may excel in areas requiring more practical abilities, such as games and PE, Music, drama, or art.
