On Monday 8 February Maltings Academy Technology department held the local heat of ‘Rotary Young Chef 2010’ in association with Witham Rotary Club and Fiippo Berio Olive Oil. Fifteen students from years 7, 8 and 10 took part in creating and preparing a three course healthy meal for two people. All the students worked extremely hard for over two hours to impress the three judges. They all showed high levels of skill and creativity.
The judges had a very difficult decision when choosing the winner. The top three students were Arrisha Toogood (year 7, 3rd place), Marley Valentine (year 7, 2nd place) and Lois Bronze (year 8, 1st place). Lois went on to compete in the district finals held at Chelmsford College on the 27th February. Well done to all the students that took part; they did a fantastic job of representing the Academy.
